Community is at the core of everything we do, and Writers Wednesday is the perfect place to strengthen that. Usually meeting the second Wednesday of every month, Writers Wednesday brings together writers of every experience level and genre in a casual atmosphere to connect, laugh, and revel in a well-deserved break. While hosting this program online, we create rotating, intimate groups of 3-5 people in breakout rooms, to allow attendees to have manageable conversations with others. And, JRW staff is always on hand to answer any questions you may have about James River Writers, or writing in general. This is a great entry point for those that are new to the James River Writers community. Plan to join us!
NEW! FUN & GAMES: We’ve added an exciting new element to three of our in-person Writers Wednesdays in 2026. Join in on some fun and games for a chance to win JRW/literary themed prizes. We will sell tickets for the optional participation in these literary themed games leading up to each of these programs in March, May, and July! Proceeds from these fun and games programs go to support JRW’s fundraising efforts. These will be hosted at Buskey Cider in Richmond, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. This is a slight change from the other Writers Wednesdays that are hosted from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
NEWCOMERS WELCOME – April and October – if you’re new to JRW, whether you’ve already joined our membership or not, this Writers Wednesday will include a “JRW 101” run down. While “veteran” attendees socialize and network in their breakout rooms, newcomers are welcome to stay with JRW Staff while we share about JRWs regular programming, membership options and benefits, and more! In addition, we will answer any questions you may have. Once you’ve finished your “JRW 101” run down, you’re welcome to join other attendees in networking and socializing.
