Commitment to writing time can be the best indicator of a writer’s success. To help you stay on track and prioritize your writing, we are offering monthly JRW Write-Ins in 2024. We will host one each month except in January and October.
UPDATE! Beginning in April 2024, due to popular demand, we are offering BOTH morning and evening Write-In times each month. Choose one or both times, as your schedule allows!
What to expect:
- Sign in to the Zoom session promptly at the start time. Check below for each month’s schedule. One of JRW’s staff members or volunteers will say hello and give very basic instructions (less than one minute’s worth!), but there won’t be any chatting or conversation to start these sessions. Our goal is to give you time to work and a place to be accountable. It’s fine to arrive late. Just slip in quietly so you don’t disturb those already working.
- Once you are signed in, use the chat function to post your Write-In goal as well as any other writing goals you might have. We will save the chat captures throughout the year, and if you join us at the December Write-In, we’ll send you a private message letting you know your overall stats.
- We will assist you, as needed, to mute your microphone to keep from distracting fellow writers hard at work. You may also turn your camera off, but that is optional. Some folks find it useful to keep their cameras on while working, for accountability or to feel less alone.
- Get to work. Write, write, write! Or maybe you’re in the editing phase and need to prune. Maybe you’re outlining your story or journal article. Maybe you’re composing your marketing plan or scheduling your social media posts. This is YOUR time to do whatever you need to do!
- Check back in. At the end of the two hours, if you want, let us know in the chat how you did with your goal and what you’ll be working on in between Write-Ins. We will sign off promptly in order to respect everyone’s time.

Registration is required. You only have to register once to attend any or all of the Write-Ins. Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the full 2024 Write-In schedule and the Zoom link to join. Please keep this confirmation email for your records. We will also send a reminder email the day before each Write-In which will include the link to join.
