Twitter Chat with Agent on August 9

On Thursday, Aug. 9 from noon to 1:00 PM EDT, Ayesha Pande will be available through Twitter to answer questions about her experiences as an agent and editor. This is the third in a series of Twitter chats with publishing professionals who will participate in James River Writers’ 10th annual conference on Oct. 20-21.

Ayesha has worked in the publishing industry for 10 years. Before becoming an agent, she was a senior editor at Farrar Straus & Giroux and held editorial positions at HarperCollins and Crown Publishers. She is a member of the Association of Authors’ Representatives, PEN, and the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and sits on the advisory board of the German Book Office. Ayesha has attended numerous writing conferences, including Muse and the Marketplace, Aspen Summer Words, and the Miami Writer’s Institute. She has taught college level courses in editing and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University.

What is Ayesha looking for these days? Her interest include literary and popular fiction, including young adult, women’s, African-American and international fiction. She is also seeking authors of nonfiction, including biography, history, economics, popular culture, cultural commentary, memoir, graphic novels, and humor.

Ayesha will be one of the judges during the First Pages Critique and sit on several panels at the 2012 JRW Conference. She is also offering one-one-one meetings with conference registrants.
