Shannon Nemer of River City Reading presents this edition of The Writing Show. Shannon is an educator and book blogger who shares her love for adult literary fiction and historical fiction at River City Reading. Big, sweeping family dramas that take place over several decades and continents are her weakness, along with weird stories and dark Southern fiction. She also loves nonfiction that gets her stuck in a Wikipedia worm hole, especially if it ties into history, education, or social justice. In addition to her River City Reading blog, Shannon’s book reviews appear frequently on RVAnews.com and other sites such as The Nerdy Book Club and Readerly. You can follow her on twitter @rivercityreading or keep up with bookish news through River City Reading’s Facebook page.

Moderator Bill Blume discovered his love for the written word while in high school and has been writing ever since. He’s the author of the young adult Gidion Keep, Vampire Hunter series. The latest book in the series Gidion’s Blood was published earlier this year by Diversion Books. His short stories have been in many fantasy anthologies and various ezines. Just like the father figure in his first novel, Bill works as a 911 dispatcher for Henrico County Police and has done so for more than a decade. He’s also a board member for James River Writers and served as the board’s chair in 2013.
